THE NEW EXERCISE REVOLUTION: IRON IS SUPERIOR TO CONCRETE!

Once more, high intensity SB short burst exercise is proving more effective than any other exercise format!

To Scott - I am up and I’m serious to reach a body fat of less than 10%. I am about 20% and have already have lost 27 lbs. on better eating. I want to reach this level in 4 months. Is it possible and how much cardio should I do? Secondarily, do you recommend any start up training sessions that my MD can review too? My MD was amazed by my positive changes and I credit this to Dr. Serrano’s Alpha Omega and Fat Reduce!

From Scott – Hello and congrats. Listen, over the past 5 years or so, as it concerns start up fat loss programs (in those who may score as clinically obese, or whose body mass index (BMI) and levels offat registers as significantly overweight, many trainers and MD’s are finally following our established and published lead, and de-emphasizing aerobic exercise (especially running), in favor of compete body resistance training.

We can ask... “Why not replace about 80% of any planned ‘cardio sessions’ with better overall exercise, one that not only protects the integrity of your joints,but is of less duration yet, raises your metabolic rate chronically, building critical muscle, while causing your body to drop fat like a proverbial lead balloon?”

All exercise is “cardio!” If your ticker is not ticking neither are you. Fast-paced weight sessions add muscle, burns stored and dietary fat, decreases peripheral vascular resistance and increases cardiac output as your cardiac output equals your stroke volume X your heart rate (CO = SV x HR).

Training upon rising on a relatively empty GI tract creates some metabolic opportunity for more fat loss. This is due to carb fuels (sugar) not being restored and available - post your 8-9 overnight fast. But— this is usually relative to aerobic (cardio) exercise and building muscle requires different energy fuels than stored fats.

This is why Dr. Serrano is noted in his research on branched chain and free-form amino acids as a “fuel source” under varying well-hydrated conditions.

Let’s address your fat loss goal.

Short burst (SB) workouts are the new standard. 15-20 minute intense exercise sessions will maximize metabolism, energy and even mental sharpness. SB burns calories. It also causes huge “metabolic after burn”– accelerating metabolism for many hours following exercise. Aerobics just do not cause much after burn.

Here’s a real world example:

“I am a grad student and I was always a first thing “cardio addict” for years based on physiology data from Douglas collections. That showed that my RQ (respiratory quotient) of C02 exhaled in relationship to Oxygen inhaled, was causing fats to be oxidized preferentially oxidized and utilized. As with Mike, increasing the intensity (and quality) of aerobic exercise will burn fat. So, more are going short duration, yet higher intensity.

An example of a SB session is alternating sets of chin ups with strict weighted push ups for a TOTAL of 40-100 reps for each exercise reached over 20 minutes. In fact, if you simply did 4 exercises and progressively adding weight — chin ups, pushups, crunches and free squats, with minimal rest, your body will soon enough be a tuned lean fit machine!

The client test group (11 males from 28-41 years of age), using SB workouts 4 times per week combined with a traditional weight training program later in the day averaged a 3.5% body fat loss during the first 45 days.

This was even more impressive when it was noted that ALL of the subjects herein, measured less than 16% body fat to begin with!!

Once more, none spent more than 4 hours exercising in a 7 day period. These subjects were given an amino loading protocol (vital raw materials) of Dr.Serrano’s 100% MR and Muscle Synthesis. This helped ensure complete substrate restoration and tissue nutrient repair, systemic and local recovery and accelerated muscle acquisition and fat loss.”

Do each exercise as a superset - Do at least 40 reps of each within 20 minutes using a slow, controlled speed of movement to maximize muscle recruitment.

One major secret to maximum fitness, both cardio and skeletal muscle is to cut training time, to cut bodyfat! While hundreds of articles are written each day ---- all addressing/discussing how to add weight and vary reps, sets, (leaps & bounds etc), how many address the critical issue of doing the same or more work, in less time? This is also a very important progression!

I call this “training density.” It’s the real forgotten factor of how to improve muscle growth and fat loss over time. Heightened TD (training density) causes an anabolic hormonal “explosion” with higher levels of blood testosterone and growth hormones.

Keep in mind that decreasing rest (progressively) increases the production of lactic acid. This lactate and increased free hydrogen ion, lowers blood and tissue pH and is mostly responsible for that “burn” that nature so happily provided us to remind us of what hard high intensity anaerobic oxygen debt work, truly feels like!

It’s important to note, that this hard exercise manifestation,is really a powerful precursor to growth hormonerelease. Naturally-released HGH is a pretty potentfat-burning hormone. Here is another variation to burnoff that fat!

I call it RRFL (Rapid Rip Fat-Loss) Training.






Try to cut you rest periods by 10 seconds each week without reducing weight. For you muscle hungry animals – try the first SB training routine above in the morning and this rapid rip routine in the late afternoon.

Q) Dr. Serrano I am seeking a 6-pack set of abs. BUT-- after 3 years of trying I can not make it happen. I want to hear your advice cold -- what do you suggest?

A) Training and nutrition must be re-considered! Tothe surprise of many, diet is much more important than previously understood.
